Membership Categories and Dues

AAPM offers several types of membership categories, which include:

Active Physician Members

AAPM membership is open to physicians (i.e., doctors of medicine or doctors of osteopathy) who practice medicine in the United States. These members spend a significant portion of their time treating pain patients and studying pain disorders. spending a significant portion of their time treating pain patients and studying pain disorders. Active physician members may vote, serve as officers and directors, and serve and vote on committees. Click here for membership application.

Annual Dues: $325

International Members

International members are physicians who have a license to practice medicine within their country of origin outsides of the United States. These members may not vote or serve as officers, but may serve and vote on committees. Click here for membership application.

Annual Dues: $250

Resident Members

Resident members must be enrolled and in good standing in a residency program in an institution within the United States approved by the American Board of Pain Medicine, the Accreditation Council on Graduate medical Education, or the American Osteopathic Association. These members may not vote or serve as officers, but may serve and vote on committees. They shall NOT be required to pay dues.  Click here for membership application.

Student Members

Student members must be enrolled and in good standing in a curriculum of allopathic or osteopathic medicine in an institution within the United States approved by the Association of American Medical colleges or the American Osteopathic Association. Students may not vote or serve as officers, but may serve and vote on committees. They shall NOT be required to pay dues.  Click here for membership application.

Trainee Members

AAPM provides graduated dues structure for members enrolled and in good standing in a fellowship program in an institution within the United States that are approved by the American Board of Pain Medicine, the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education or the American Osteopathic Association. These members may not vote or serve as officers, but may serve and vote on committees.  Click here for membership application.

Dues: Year 1 of Fellowship - $0
Year 2 of Fellowship - $100
Year 3 of Fellowship - $325

Affiliate Members

Affiliate members are non-physician healthcare professionals who are registered or eligible to be registered or licensed by a regulatory agency in the United States. The affiliate members can be Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Physical therapists, Psychologists, or Pharmacists that play a significant role in the care of pain patients. They must be sponsored by an Active member of AAPM. They may serve as voting members of committees, but cannot chair committees, hold office or vote in business outside of their committee appointment. Click here for affiliate membership application.
